AUGUST

Wednesday 30th: Speed dating and coffee morning in Sports Hall (9:40 – 11:00)

SEPTEMBER

Monday 4th: TY Oak will go on walk to Clashganny (9:40 – 1:20).

Tuesday 5th: TY Ash will go on walk to Clashganny (9:40 – 1:20).

Wednesday 6th: TY Elm will go on walk to Clashganny (9:40 – 1:20).

Tuesday 12th: Day Trip to Dunmore East Outdoor Education Centre. (8:30 – 16:30).

First work placement: Friday September 15th to Friday 22nd December 2023.

Tuesday 19th: Student Enterprise Office talk to TY Oak (9:00 - 9:40) and TY Elm (9:40-10:20) in their Mini Company classes (Ms Conway).

Thursday 21st: TY Careers in Screen 1-day Workshop for 10 TY students.

Student Enterprise Office talk to TY Ash (12:00 - 12:40) in their Mini Company class (Mr Delahunty).

Monday 25th: John O’Shea, Social Entrepreneurship. John will share his motivational stories with students, in the hope of inspiring another generation to take up the challenge of alleviating the suffering of the forgotten on our planet. TY Oak 9:00 - 9:40, TY Elm 9:40 - 10:20, TY Ash 10:20 - 11:00. Teachers attend workshop scheduled in Room 6. (rescheduled)

Thursday 28th: Butlers chocolate sale fund raiser at 11:00 – 11:20 to support Hope Foundation.

Friday 29th: School closed

OCTOBER

Tuesday 3rd: Borris Lace Makers 3 x 40-minute presentation (9:00 – 11:00). TY Ash 9:00 - 9:40, TY Elm 9:40 - 10:20, TY Oak 10:20 - 11:00.

Wednesday 4th to Christmas (each Wednesday 11:20 – 1:20): GAA Foundation course. Carlow GAA will run this optional course. You can apply for selection (20 places are available).

Tuesday 10th: "A Face in the Crowd" in The GBS Theatre at the VISUAL, Carlow (11:30am). The Discover Recover Theatre project is a drama educational project aimed at increasing mental health awareness, literacy and support help-seeking; it does so through live drama performance followed-up by post-performance workshops.

Marcella Cahill from Carlow Regional Youth Services (CRYS) will come to give information re CRYS to TY’s (10:20 – 11:00).

Thursday 26th: Last year Big Idea Winners will attend Student Accelerator Workshop in Dublin (10:00 – 16:00).

Monday 6th – Friday 10th: One TY student has been selected to participate in a one-week mental health awareness programme run by Walk in My Shoes and facilitated by St Patrick’s Mental Health Services staff.

Tuesday 7th: An Tobar Nua, well-being and faith retreat in school for TY Oak 9:30-3:30.

Wednesday 8th: TY Additional Education Needs workshop. TY Ash 11:20 -12:00, TY Elm 12:00 – 12:40, TY Oak 12:40 - 1:20.

Thursday 9th: Amy Johnson from Rowing Ireland will deliver a day long workshop to approx. 15 TY students.

Monday 13th: Rhythmriot Music will provide a Brazilian Drumming workshop. TY Elm 9:40 - 11:00; TY Oak 11:20 - 12:40; TPine 2:00 - 3:20. Teachers attend workshop scheduled in Room 30.

Thursday 30th: Think Languages Day will be held in school. TY language teachers will accompany TY’s.

DECEMBER

Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th: Rubbish Film Festival focusses on students making one-minute films on issues surrounding Sustainable Development Goals. This will be a two-day workshop facilitated by Createschool for a selection of 12 interested students. Students will learn a range of skills related to writing, filming, producing, will then be entered into the regional awards, and the winners of these will then be entered into the National Awards next May. This year students will make a one-minute movie on Climate Change.

Thursday 14th: Jumpzone (slushees included) and Christmas shopping in Liffey Valley.

Wednesday 20th: Carol singing at Borris Lodge Nursing Home (Music module group)

JANUARY

Late January: Foroige Leadership for Life Programme empowers young people with leadership capabilities to reach their full potential, whilst learning, practising and developing soft skills required for their future lives (3-4 days in St Patrick’s College Carlow).

Tuesday 23rd: Information evening for parents/ guardians of incoming TY students (6:30-7:30). Senior Cycle Options Evenings for parents / guardians (7:30-8:30).

Thursday 25th: Go Quest (Carrickmines) is the best LIVE scoring, fully automated, indoor challenge adventure.

FEBRUARY

Monday 5th: Bank Holiday

Thursday 8th: I Wish 2024 Hybrid event. will have live speakers, live interactive exhibitions and a live audience of 3,000 students. It will be streamed virtually to a global reach in excess of 15,000 students direct from Dublin’s RDS. (9:00 – 11:00)
